Class 405

Issues in Biblical Church Counseling

The Issues in Biblical Church Counseling course will explore various issues that comprise the human condition from a Christ-centered perspective. This course aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of how Christ is relevant to the challenges of life in the present age. We will begin with "The Heart of the Matter" paradigm, establishing a foundational approach that emphasizes the transformative power of Jesus in the hearts of those who are suffering. Students will learn to integrate faith and practice in a way that honors God and promotes spiritual growth and healing.

Throughout the course, we will delve into a wide range of topics that are pertinent to counseling within the church context. These topics include anxiety, depression, suicide, burnout, family of origin issues, various addictions, sex addiction, pornography, adultery, divorce, remarriage, gender identity, homosexuality, abuse, trauma, suffering, crisis, and grief. Each issue will be examined through the lens of biblical principles, offering scriptural insights and practical strategies for effective counseling. By examining these critical issues, students will build a valuable resource of Bible verses and teachings that provide guidance and hope for those facing these challenges.

By the end of the course, students will have developed a solid understanding of how to apply biblical truths to the human condition and walk alongside individuals in their journey toward wholeness and restoration. The course aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to address these issues with compassion, wisdom, and a deep reliance on God's Word.
